Versent made #7 on LinkedIn’s Top Startup List in Australia. To be considered for this year’s list, companies needed to be privately held, seven years old or younger and have 50 or more employees. LinkedIn then looked at the activity of its more than 500 million users to factor in employee growth, job seeker interest and engagement with the company on the platform, as well as how well the upstarts were able to attract talent away from the established players on LinkedIn’s Top Companies list.

The LinkedIn rankings were based on employment growth, the number of non-employee views and follows on the start-up’s LinkedIn page and how many non-employees are viewing staff profiles from the company, the number of people viewing and applying for jobs at the company and the number of employees the start-up has recruited away from LinkedIn Top Companies, as a percentage of the start-up’s total workforce.

Versent, founded by Thor Essman, James Coxon, Hamish Toll, Eddie Smith, and David Broeren, was born out of frustrations Essman has had for clients in the enterprise IT space over the last 25 years. He felt there was a gap in the market when it came to the consulting world, where firms didn’t really focus on highly available, outcome-based products for the enterprise space. Versent was founded with the credo that the company wanted to help enterprises be innovative in the same way as startups.
