In the final installment of our guide to AWS re:Invent, Josh Lopez our GM of Cloud and AWS Ambassador shares his thoughts on which sessions will benefit your digital transformation journey. Josh is passionate about sharing his experience and knowledge of AWS and, ahead of AWS re:Invent in Vegas this month, has studied the event guide with a view to ensuring he’s at the sessions that he can get the most out of.

AWS re:Invent 2022 is only a week away and whether you’ll be travelling to Las Vegas or absorbing all the content digitally, I’ll give you my take on the must see containers and serverless sessions. If you haven’t yet registered, head over to https://reinvent.awsevents.com/register/ and you’ll be able to take in all the below sessions.

The following are sessions that I recommend you register for, and I’ve provided sessions if you’re in Las Vegas and sessions if you’re watching along digitally.

If you’re in-person at Las Vegas, here are my recommendations

  • Concepts to take your Kubernetes operations and scale to the next level
    Date & Time: Thursday, December 1 @ 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM PT
    Type: Workshop
Overview: In this workshop, learn about Kubernetes best practices and dive into the critical concepts, tools, and configurations necessary to ensure application health. Note: You must bring your laptop to participate.

  • Refactoring to serverless
    Date & Time: Tuesday, November 29 @ 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM PT
    Type: Chalk Talk
Overview: This session shows how you can refactor an existing serverless application to fully utilize AWS managed services and make service dependencies explicit, resulting in cleaner and more robust code. This session shares an initial catalog of refactorings and invites you to brainstorm new ones.

  • Serverless high-concurrency containers on AWS
    Type: Chalk Talk
Overview: There are three main serverless options for running your containers on AWS: AWS Lambda, AWS Fargate, and AWS App Runner.
How do the serverless compute models of these services compare?
How do they handle high-concurrency traffic?
How can you figure out which one is right for you?
Find out answers to all these questions at this Chalk Talk!
