AWS security webinars: learn new skills in a fun environment

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hosting two free learning events in September to help AWS customers get ‘hands-on’ with their cloud security tools.  

The events will be split into educational workshops and a competitive security jam. All sessions are open to AWS customers across the Asia-Pacific region.  

This years’ AWS Security Events will teach participants how to improve enterprise security posture and minimise risk in cloud environments. These workshops are all about participation, and the technical competitions will combine foundational best practices with the latest cybersecurity techniques.   

These are AWS’s main security events for 2021, and they’re completely online. You can join in from whichever location works best for you.   

The events will start with a brief introduction by the AWS team, followed by participants taking a deep dive into workshops or competitions. You can participate in sessions in whatever order you like and at a pace that suits you.   

During the sessions, AWS staff will be available to answer your questions and provide any assistance you might need.  

Sessions for all experience levels 

For these sessions, there are two styles of learning:   

• guided workshops, &  
• the competitive jam.  

Three experience levels are offered:   

• Level 100: introductory,  
• Level 200: intermediate,  
• Level 300: advanced, &  
• Level 400: expert.  

All you have to do is choose a date and experience level that suits you best.  

Level 100: introductory sessions focused on providing an overview of AWS services and features, with the assumption that attendees are new to the topic.  

Level 200: intermediate sessions providing best practices, details of service features and demos with the assumption that attendees already have introductory knowledge of the topics.  

Level 300: advanced sessions that dive deeper into the selected topic. Presenters assume that the audience already has some familiarity with the topic but may or may not have direct experience implementing a similar solution.  

Level 400: expert sessions for participants who are deeply familiar with the topic, have implemented a solution on their own already, and are comfortable with how the technology works across multiple services, architectures, and implementations.
