Learn, measure, and build using AWS best practices

Versent has a dedicated team of consultants to assess your cloud workloads against the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

Versent, a AWS Well-Architected Partner.

As an AWS Well-Architected Partner, Versent adheres to the five pillars of the AWS Well-Architected Framework:

  • Operational Excellence
  • Reliability
  • Cost Optimisation
  • Security
  • Performance Efficiency

The AWS Well-Architected Framework provides architectural best practices across the five pillars for designing and operating reliable, secure, efficient, and cost-effective cloud workloads.

Using the Framework in your architecture helps you produce stable and efficient workloads, allowing you to focus on delivering value to your customers.

Operational Excellence

The Operational Excellence pillar supports the ability to develop and run workloads effectively, gain insight into their operational capability, and continuously improve supporting processes.

Everything continues to change; your business context, business priorities, and customer needs. Operations teams need to understand their business and customer requirements so they can support business stability. So, it’s important to design operations that support evolution over time and incorporate lessons learned through experience.

Reliability

The Reliability pillar encompasses the ability of a workload to perform its intended function correctly and consistently when it’s expected to. This includes the ability to operate even through service disruptions.

To achieve reliability, we must start with the foundations: an environment where service quotas and network topology accommodate the workload. The workload architecture of the distributed system must also be designed to prevent failures and automatically heal itself.

Cost Optimization

In workload implementation, there may be a temptation to over-provision rather than spend time benchmarking for the most cost-efficient deployment. This can lead to over-provisioned or sub-optimal deployments. The Cost Optimization pillar addresses the ability to run workloads efficiently without compromising performance.

Ultimately, using the most appropriate services, resources, and configurations for your workloads contributes to cost savings.

Security

Before architecting any workload, you need to put in place practices that ensure security. You’ll want to be able to identify security incidents, protect your workloads and services, and maintain the confidentiality and integrity of data through data protection. The security pillar prescribes greater workload and data security and an automated approach to responding to security events.

Performance Efficiency

The optimal solution for a particular workload varies, and solutions often combine multiple approaches. Well-Architected workloads use multiple services and enable different features to improve performance. The Performance Efficiency pillar assesses the use of computing resources to maintain efficiency as demand changes and technologies evolve. Adjustments in your workload architecture can easily be implemented to improve performance.

Thank you to the AWS team for coming and walking us through all the best practices and pointing out where we can improve. I can’t wait for the review session on our core business infrastructure.
